My great work circa 2004-2005. I was a freshmen at Grand Valley State University and I was sure I was going to be the next big artist. That year I was in the art program and it was an epic struggle. I was getting (gasp!) my first Cs and Ds and every project I was creating was no match for the other great artists in the program...until...until I created this project I dubbed my "onomatopoeia collection."
The assignment asked us to create a 3D project that was suppose to house an "usual" collection, and this is what I came up with: things that make "onomatopoeia" words. So popcorn kernels represented the word "POP." Twigs represented the word "SNAP." Honey represented the word "BUZZ."
It was a project I worked hard on for weeks. It was also a project that earned me one of my first As. To this day, I keep it in my classroom because I think it is pretty cool, and it was the project that made me realize English was my true passion.
