Make sure you review the class agenda and lesson plans for what we are doing in our day-to-day class!
In 2012 I became the first AP Literature teacher at Harper Creek High School.
I have to be honest--it was both an honor, and one of the scariest things I have ever done in education. Teaching AP Literature was intimidating to say the least, but now a few years later and I have gotten better at it, and have seen some great literary experiences emerge with every AP Literature class I have taught. You guys are some of my favorite kids to teach, and I love the lessons we teach each other throughout the semester.
So what is AP Literature?
Most people think its all about the exam. You know, that big scary test that comes around when spring is in the air and graduation is looming, but this class is so much more than that. AP Literature is about good reading and writing skills, namely analysis. It is about how you read and how to write about some of the greatest literature ever written: old and new; long and short; plays and novels; poems and short stories.
AP Lit. takes skills...hard, complex, and evolving skills. If you are up for it, I guarantee your writing and reading identity will change in the greatest ways. Explore my website and our class syllabus to see some resources and reflection about HC's AP Literature and Composition class!
